Young Explorers investigate the natural world. Each week-long camp program is packed with fun experiments, individual projects and engaging science learning. Explore, discover and enjoy the "wow" of science in your own backyard. Campers need to bring a mid-afternoon snack.

Young Explorer Science Camp Dates/Themes for 2017
Week 2 June 26 - 30: Otter's Paradise: One of the most iconic species that live at the Arcata Marsh, campers learn all about the lives and biology of these intelligent animals.
Week 6 July 24 - 28: Birds of a Feather: Campers dive into the world of birds that make their home at the Arcata Marsh. Learn about shorebirds, predatory raptors and many other species.
Week 7 July 31 - Aug 4: Invertebrates are Awesome: Campers get out your magnifying glasses and take a closer look at the local invertebrates. From insects to crustaceans, we explore these Arcata Marsh marvels.
Week 9 August 14 - 18: How to be a Herpetologist: If reptiles and amphibians are your thing, then this is the camp for you! Campers learn about frogs, salamanders, turtles, snakes, and many more slimy and scaly creatures.
Day Camp Combo
Combine Young Explorers Science Camp with a morning camp for a full day of fun. Sorry, transportation is not provided to or from the Arcata Skate Park or Marsh. Campers must be 5 to attend Redwood Day Camp.
