The Tenant-Based Rental Assistance program is designed to assist low-income households with rent payments in the City of Arcata. This program also offers assistance covering the cost of security deposits and utility deposits. Once an applicant is approved, rental assistance is provided for one year and may be renewed depending on funding availability.
To qualify for the program, applicants must earn less than 60% of Humboldt County’s median income and provide all required documentation included in the application process. Priority will be given to seniors, age 55 and older, who currently reside in Arcata, in addition to unhoused families and individuals.
UPDATE: The Tenant-Based Rental Assistance Program is accepting new applicants until Friday, May 31, 2019 at 5 PM. Pre-applications received after 5 PM on Friday, May 31, 2019 cannot be accepted.
The City of Arcata hopes to receive additional funding for the Tenant-Based Rental Assistance Program in the future, and will inform community members when the program waitlist will re-open.
To be added to the program waitlist, applicants must submit a TBRA Pre-Application. Download the Pre-Application here, or obtain a printed copy at the Community Development service counter, located at 736 F Street in Arcata.
