Energy Committee Members
The Energy Committee shall consist of seven members who shall be selected for their interest, knowledge or experience in energy usage, conservation, regulation and/or generation. Of the seven members, five must live within Arcata City limits and two may live or work in the Arcata Planning Area. See current vacancies and residency qualifications.

Committee members serve three year staggered terms ending October 31.

Powers and Duties
The powers and duties of the Energy Committee are as specified in the Arcata Municipal Code, Sections 2260 to 2263. These powers and duties are outlined as follows:
A. To study, evaluate and make recommendations to the City Council, Commissions or City staff as appropriate regarding energy efficiency, energy conservation and conversion to greener energy sources within the community.
B. To study, evaluate and provide energy information, education and program administration to the City Council, Commissions or City staff as appropriate.
C. To advise the City Council, Commissions or City staff as appropriate on energy considerations in City planning and regulation.
D. To advise the City Council, Commissions or City staff as appropriate on the potential ways for the City to generate its own energy.
