Lantern Ceremony Honors Hiroshima and Nagasaki Victims August 14
The City and local peace and faith groups host the Annual Lantern Ceremony honoring the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atom bomb casualties on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 7:45 p.m. at Klopp Lake in the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary. Make a floating lantern that morning at the Farmers' Market and launch it at the ceremony at sunset.

Natural Resources Science Camp Wins National Grant Award
Arcata and Eureka's City-run science summer camps won a $30,000 grant from a USDA Forest Service's More Kids in the Woods cost-share program. Space is still available in Arcata's last two Natural Resources Summer Camps (July 26-30 - Renewable Energy; August 2-6 - Air and Space). Scholarships are available.
